Shimmery New Pixie Tutu!

I've been thinking about this tutu for weeks but this was my first chance to make it!  I got red and black shimmer tulle in December and thought it would look really cool together.  Red and black are also my high school's colors (Go Tigers!) and the colors of a lot of sports teams so this would be great for a little cheerleader.
New pixie tutu with shimmer tulle!

I doubled-up a red piece and a black piece when I tied the tulle on so that it is super full and cute.  It doesn't look lie a layer of red/a layer of black because it isn't.

A red satin bow finishes the look
The shimmer tulle just adds another dimension of elegance. I love working with it!

At $12, this is an extremely affordable way to dress-up your little lady for the next big event.  I can make it in any color combination. Just message me for details!  I also offer the pixie tutu in non-shimmer tulle (regular tulle!) for $8 or glitter tulle for $12.

Autism Awareness Tutu

April is Autism Awareness month.  This is something that is very near and dear to my heart.  When my oldest daughter, Imma, was 2 1/2, we were told that there was a very good chance she had an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  Imma hardly spoke, had difficulty relating to other people, particularly children, and had some sensory issues.  We went through years of therapy, a preschool program for children with disabilities, and lots of research, as well as tons of prayers, and finally, this year, it was determined that she most likely has a language processing disorder paired with some sort of sensory integration disorder--but not ASD. Though we are happy and relieved to know that Imma's differences are not because of an Autism Spectrum Disorder, this disability has become a part of our lives.  We have made many friends who do have children with ASD and we have spent many years assuming our child had ASD, investing a lot of time looking into therapies, treatments, diets, etc. that may help children with ASD. Therefore, autism is probably always going to be a part of our family, whether our daughter actually has it or not.  In order to celebrate the wonderful individuals with ASD, each one as special and unique as any other person, many with extraordinary gifts, I've created this Autism Awareness Tutu.  This is my way of showing I support ASD research, funding, and treatments.  It is my most sincere hope that no one ever has to go down the same path our family has gone down ever again and that ASD will someday be nothing but a memory.
You can read more about our journey with Imma on my personal blog, which you can find here.

Wings, Wings, and More Wings!

This weekend, I finished up several projects. Including embellishing 15 pairs of fairy wings and making 5 butterflies from scratch.  Pictures of some of the fairy wings and all of the butterflies are posted below.  I am thinking of listing the butterflies in my Etsy shop.  They are made of cardboard, fabric, pipe cleaner, beads, yarn, and lots and lots of glue!  What do you think?

This one is a little retro

I love the colors in this one

Bright pink butterfly

This one is probably my favorite.  Love the purple!

I already have some tutus that include the wings without the embellishment but I like them better this way. If a tutu came with embellished wings, would that make it more enticing?  I would love to hear your feedback.
Pink rose, tulle, and ribbon added to fairy wings to make it even snazzier

Another example of the fairy wings. They come in green, pink, purple, red, orange, and blue.
